Making Exclusive Unique with Pub Stuff’s Range of Furniture

Philip Griffiths of Exclusive Inns operates a small but perfectly formed group of 3 gastro pubs in the vicinity of Stoke by Nayland on the Suffolk and Essex border. His group of pubs include The Angel at Stoke by Nayland, The Anchor at Nayland and his latest venture, The Swan Inn at Monks Eleigh.

Each of the pubs has been beautifully refurbished and is extremely individual in style. Part of the strategy for this has been to create a common thread running throughout all of them in terms of the stylish manner in which Philip and his team have achieved fantastic results with the internal décor.

The main aim was to create an eclectic and informal dining experience whilst complementing the core high quality dining proposition resting at the heart of each pub. They didn’t want anything too modern or formulaic and wanted to create the impression of a quality furniture collection that had been acquired over many years. “We worked with Pub Stuff Ltd, based in Banbury in Oxfordshire who we turn to every time we need to furnish a pub,” explained Philip. “They have visited all three of our sites and understand what we are trying to achieve with each development”.

Pub Stuff is a national company who supply new and recycled contract pub furniture to the pub, hospitality and leisure trade. Their core proposition is availability, affordability and value for money through huge stocks of brand new stylish furniture.

“In the case of our latest project, The Swan Inn at Monks Eleigh, Sally and the team at Pub Stuff were incredibly helpful and provided great advice. We generally give them a blank canvas and intuitively they know the best approach to zoning the floor space as well as suggesting the right combination of furniture and fabrics. To achieve the quality look we wanted with the sense of antique furniture that we might have had here for years, we would realistically have paid three times the amount we actually paid through using Pub Stuff,” said Philip.

Philip opted for a range of painted padded high and low cream stools, dark wood, dark walnut and soft oak traditional dining chairs. Pub Stuff paired these with dark wood chunky square dining tables, some with painted legs, together with farmhouse square, dark wood dining tables. This was teamed with a vintage sideboard, a couple of leather brown leather traditional Chesterfield wing chairs, some comfy tub chairs and an upholstered cube. Pub Stuff provided a wide range of conract fabrics that Philip was able to choose from for the cube and padded stools to add greater depth to the stylish look he was aiming for.

As well as providing the advice, guidance and furniture for the interior of The Swan Inn, Pub Stuff was also asked to supply a selection of outdoor furniture for the front and back of the pub. “Everything has been superb quality,” said Philip who received particularly glowing responses from customers to the classic Xavier inspired metal reproduction café chairs and dining tables.”

This is a collection of matt burnished bronze finished chairs and matching tables complete with tilt top and stacking capability. All items in the range are constructed upon a durable metal frame which conveys a stunning industrial design, the furniture is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

From the popular Pub Stuff wooden outdoor range, Philip opted for several sets of the oiled acacia wood furniture sets which are sustainable, long lasting and very stylish. The sets are very practical. The four arm chairs in each set have ergonomically shaped seats for maximum comfort and are easily stackable for convenient storage.

Philip described what he called the other ‘fast ball’ delivered by Pub Stuff, “We had major complications on site as we worked to get the project finished and had to delay the furniture order twice already. On the new delivery day, we were still experiencing difficulties and asked Pub Stuff if there was any way they could divert the delivery to another warehouse. In my experience most companies would have just dropped off the consignment and left you to it but Pub Stuff were brilliant and at short notice rearranged the delivery location to meet our needs. They’ve been great with everything so far and we’ll definitely be using them again for our next major project”.
