The Horseshoe Inn - Case Study

At the beginning of the year, we were contacted by Claire and Mark at The Horseshoe Inn, Shipston on Stour. They were looking to redesign their Pub, and decided to contact us to see how we could help. To do this we created a mood board including a range of our furniture, possible fabrics to use and general design ideas.

Once the redesign was completed, Claire and Mark were kind enough to let us visit the pub once again and take after shots to add to the images taken before the design to see the difference. Below will be a series of questions we wanted to know about the business, the design, and the future of the pub.

1. Can you give me a quick overview of your business?
We run a traditional public house in Shipston on Stour; we have recently taken over the business after being offered the opportunity from Ei. This is a second site and we aim to deliver good quality home cooked food with a good selection of real ales, wine and lager. We offer a traditional Sunday Carvery every week.

2. What was the main reason for the redesign of your Pub?
The interior was very old, dated and worn. The pub needed a new lease of life to attract a better footfall.

3. When thinking of ideas for new furniture, why did you choose Pub stuff?
Reputation and recognised supplier of the catering industry was the most important to us, plus local to our sites.

4. Were any other contractors involved with the redesign or did you do it by yourself?   We had decorators and upholsterers to help. But only Pub stuff to help with the mood board.

5. Why did you choose the products you now have in your Pub?
We had help from Sally your designer, we wanted to get it spot on from the start after having decorated pubs before – this time we wanted a professional touch. Sally offered options and although we were slightly hesitate at some her experience speaks for itself. The traditional furniture with updated coverings looks amazing

6. How much was the whole cost of your pub refurbishment?
The new furniture was approx. £3,000, plus £600 for new wallpaper and £2,500 to recover fixed seating.

7. Overall, were you happy with the process from contact, design and delivery of your products?
Absolutely thrilled the pub is transformed we have increased our sales 65-70%, it looks traditional, warm and modern. We can’t wait to start on other pub with the help of Sally’s designs.
